Most GOP Iowa caucus attendees have no problem with Trump skipping debates: poll

Former President Donald Trump has made it clear that he plans to continue skipping the Republican National Committee's official 2024 presidential primary debates. Regardless, he remains the primary frontunner.
According to a Des Moines Register/NBC News poll, most Iowa Republicans attending the caucuses have no problem with Trump skipping the debates.
The poll, Axios' Erin Doherty notes, finds that "57 percent of likely Iowa Republican caucusgoers say that former President Trump missing the GOP presidential debates does not matter to them." However, 42 percent believe Trump should participate in at least one debate.
POLL: Should Trump be allowed to hold office again?
"When it comes to the caucuses," Doherty explains, "43 percent said Trump is their first choice. Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis and former UN Ambassador Nikki Haley were tied for second at 16 percent. The poll also found that 65 percent of likely Republican caucusgoers think that Trump, who faces 91 criminal counts in four jurisdictions, can win against President Biden regardless of his legal woes."
Doherty adds, "Less than a third of likely Republican caucusgoers think that Trump's legal challenges will make it 'nearly impossible' to win against Biden."
