'I just said Ken Paxton': Witness repeats response as GOP senator 'malfunctions' during hearing

One Republican senator sparred with a witness during a hearing Tuesday over a tweet published two years ago.
"Sen. John Kennedy (R-LA) malfunctions during a hearing on mass deportations," Heartland Signal wrote via X, sharing a video of the Louisiana lawmaker attempting to grill witness Aaron Reichlin-Melnick, who is a lawyer and senior fellow at American Immigration Council.
"On November 1, 2022, you tweeted, 'Both Texas and Louisiana have their knives out for Black immigrants.'" Kennedy said, asking Reichlin-Melnick, "Do you remember that tweet?"

He replied, "I don't, but it's quite possible."
Kennedy said, "It's not only possible, but it happened. You're not denying it, are you? Who in Texas had their knives out for Black immigrants? Give me a name. Give me a name."
Reichlin-Melnick replied, "My suspicion is Attorney General Ken Paxton."
"Give me a name," the GOP senator said again. "Give me a name."

"I just did," Reichlin-Melnick emphasized.
"You don’t have a name, do you?" Kennedy asked.
