Former Speaker of the House, Newt Gingrich, recently suggested the 2020 election was rigged, despite evidence it was not, Media Matters reports.

Fox News host Sean Hannity asked the former congressman in an interview whether the Hunter Biden laptop story could have had "a big impact on" the 2020 election.

Gingrich immediately replied, "There's no question that the election was rigged. It was rigged by the FBI. It was rigged by the elite media. It was rigged by the social media companies. It was rigged by Zuckerberg's 420,000,000 dollars in turning out selectively Democratic voters. I mean, just go down the list."

The longtime Republican said this amid Dominion Voting Systems' ongoing lawsuit against the right-wing network over its decision to spread false claims of election fraud.

Furthermore, a recent court filing from the voting-tech firm "revealed multiple Fox News hosts and producers didn't believe many of the false claims that were airing on their network."

Despite this, Hannity said, "You know, if you look at the other issues, what frustrated me is laws weren't followed in 2020. Like for example, partisan observers getting to watch the vote count — they never made accommodations for COVID, they should have."

He continued, "State constitutions were ignored like in Pennsylvania. They have very specific laid out instances where people can vote by mail and rather than do the heavy lift and the arduous and go through the arduous process of amending the constitution, they just wrote legislation. Well, that's unconstitutional."

In 2021, Pennsylvania's then-attorney general, now Governor Josh Shapiro "beat back at least 40 legal challenges to Donald Trump's election loss, and he explained how the twice-impeached one-term president undermined his own case."

Shapiro said, "When the former president began talking about how vote by mail was not okay and that the Democrats were going to try and steal the election -- all of his greatest hits -- I immediately put together a team in my office made up of lawyers from both our criminal division and our civil division.

The governor noted state officials "made sure voters had access to the polls and ensured voting was safe, and they got ready for the challenges that Trump signaled were coming."

After Republicans like Pennsylvania Senator Doug Mastriano "attempted to interfere with the election 'in the name of former President Donald Trump's conspiracy theories," The Philadelphia Inquirer editorial board wrote, "Mastriano's relentless efforts to thwart the results of the 2020 presidential election, spread Donald Trump’s election lies, and suppress votes in future elections amounts to a 10-alarm fire for anyone who believes in a functioning democracy."

Still, in its most recent filing urging Fox News to admit to its lies, Dominion said, "Despite having conceded it was all a lie, and despite internal documents proving they knew it was a lie all along, Fox still will not retract the lies and tell its audience the truth."
