As people take to the streets over President Donald Trump administration’s shootiing of widows, his floundering economy and his open threats to invade NATO members and U.S. allies, one Democratic candidate for the U.S. House of Representatives is hoping the opposition party is ready to put their impeachment pants on.
“We need skilled, smart lawyers who aren't afraid of this f—— to go in and do two things: One is to hold him accountable through investigating all his misdeeds and all the miscreants around him, and to impeach people, including the president, for their high crimes and misdemeanors,” said Democratic candidate George Conway, a former Republican attorney running for a House seat in New York, in a Wednesday interview with The Bulwark.
“Congress has a moral and constitutional obligation to do that, that the Republican majority has forsaken for almost a decade now. And that's why we are where we are. And we can't screw around anymore because this is it. I mean, this is a guy who tore down the East Wing because he's thinking that he wants to have his grand palace to hold his unconstitutional and illegal third inauguration,” continued Conway, adding that Congress also requires lawmakers who are not afraid to pass laws to make sure something like Trump “never happens again.”
Conway told Bulwark podcaster Tim Miller that he is an attorney with experience in cross-examination and interrogating witnesses of Trump’s many crimes. He also says he’s good at conducting investigations, which will inevitably play a huge role in a Trump presidential term.
“I fought Trump publicly in every way I could. And I paid a price,” Conway said. “I'll never regret standing up to Trump or for the victims he abused, helping [author] E. Jean Carroll sue Trump for raping her and lying about it. Now Trump owes E. Jean $88 million. He doesn't like me.”
Conway was particularly passionate about Trump’s assault on regular Americans, endangering them in a way that led to the Wednesday murder of a mother and widow by ICE agents in Minneapolis.
“He is a criminal,” said Conway. “He is ignoring his oath of office. He is doing bad things that cause bad things to people around the world, including ordinary people who are going to the f—— grocery store. Excuse my language.”
Conway said congressional intervention was imminently necessary because Trump and his Cabinet “are deranged.”
“Trump is a sociopath. Trump is a psychopath. Trump is a malignant narcissist. He is unwell. He is unfit for any position of power because he is mentally ill,” said Conway, while adding that “If you are not in some way [similarly] afflicted, if you are in some way normal, you can't work in that administration.”
“So, he's surrounded by people who do nothing but do his bidding — and not only just do his bidding, anticipate his bidding. They are just as bad as he is.”
