Fulton County Clerk of Superior Court warns of 'fictitious document' circulating online

The Office of the Fulton County Clerk of Superior and Magistrate Courts announced Monday that media outlets should be aware of a "fictitious document" being shared online.
This comes after a document listing charges against former President Donald Trump "was posted to the Fulton County court website Monday afternoon, and quickly removed" on Monday.
Atlanta News First Chief Investigator Brendan Keefe shared a copy of a news release from the Office of the Fulton County Clerk of Superior and Magistrate Courts Monday, writing, "#BREAKING Fulton Clerk of Superior Court warns of 'fictitious document that has been circulated online' related to the Trump Grand Jury."
The news release reads, "The Office of the Fulton County Clerk of Superior and Magistrate Courts has learned of a fictitious document that has been circulated online and reported by various media outlets related to The Fulton County Special Purpose Grand Jury. While there have been no documents filed today regarding such, all members of the media should be reminded that documents that do not bear an official case number, filing date, and the name of The Clerk of Courts, in concert, are not considered official filings and should not be."

It continues, "Media members can expect to be notified of any/all filings in real time and will be provided access to filings via equitable communication. As the official custodian of various county records, the Clerk of Courts understands the sensitivity of all court filings, especially those that are at the forefront of the national spotlight and remains committed to operating with an extreme level of efficiency, accuracy, and transparency."
Keefe also highlighted one line from the release, raising a follow-up question for the office, writing, "'...Documents that do not bear an official case number, filing date, and the name of The Clerk of Courts, in concert, are not considered official filings and should not be treated as such.' Was it a draft? How did it end up online?"
Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis could bring charges against former President Donald Trump in the coming weeks for his alleged attempt to overturn the results of the 2020 election in Georgia.
