Senator John Fetterman (D-PA) is facing backlash online after the Pennsylvania lawmaker's Sunday interview with ABC News' Jonathan Karl.

"After you've survived an assassination — you literally were shot in the head, and had the presence of mind to respond, 'Fight, fight, fight!' Fetterman told Karl, referring to President-elect Donald Trump. "That's political talent that's undeniable."

He added, "And also I never believed that it was about fascism." When Karl pointed out that Kamala Harris said Trump "is a fascist."

Fetterman replied, "That's her prerogative, but that's not a word that regular people use because you put a lot of Democrats — especially in my state — that I know, and I happen to love people that are gonna vote for Trump. And they are not fascists. And, also, fascism — that's not a word that regular people use. I think people are gonna decide who is the candidate that's gonna protect and project my version of the American way of life. And that's what happened."

Ex-MSNBC host Mehdi Hasan replied: "Fetterman continues his pretty shameless and now pretty predictable Sinema-esque journey."

Moms Demand founder Shannon Watts commented: "Ask the prosperous, highly educated Germans who voted for Hitler if they thought they were fascists - or even knew the definition of fascism - before voting in a fascist."

Former Rep. Joe Walsh (D-IL) added: "Respectfully @JohnFetterman, this is such dangerous normalizing of Trump. Trump lies every time he opens his mouth, he tried to overthrow an American election, he believes he’s above the law, he wants to jail his political opponents, and you call that 'undeniable political talent?' Come on man."
