'Fed up with parade of lies': Brian Kemp rep shoots down latest MAGA conspiracy theory

On Friday, December 15, a Georgia-related myth went viral among far-right MAGA conspiracy theorists, who claimed that Gov. Brian Kemp had told Secretary of State Brad Raffensperger that more than 17,000 "invalid" votes from the 2020 presidential election had been counted in Fulton County. But a Kemp adviser has debunked the myth, making it clear that the conservative Republican governor still considers now-President Joe Biden's victory in Georgia perfectly legitimate.
Atlanta Journal-Constitution (AJC) reporters Greg Bluestein, Tia Mitchell, Patricia Murphy and Adam Van Brimmer quote Kemp adviser Cody Hall as saying, "Retelling the same lies for three years does not make them true, even when citing bogus online blogs. The moon landing was real, Bigfoot does not roam the forests of North America, and the 2020 election in Georgia was not stolen."
Kemps "inner circle," according to the AJC reporters, "is fed up with the parade of lies about the Georgia vote, which President Joe Biden narrowly won."
POLL: Should Trump be allowed to hold office again?
Meanwhile, a group of Georgia Democrats, the journalists note, are trying to get Lt. Gov. Burt Jones, a MAGA Republican, removed from office because of his role in the fake electors scheme of 2020.
Bluestein, Mitchell, Patricia Murphy and Van Brimmer report, "A group of Democrats are pursuing a specialized lawsuit to remove Lt. Gov. Burt Jones from office because he 'engaged in insurrection or rebellion' against the U.S. when he served as a pro-Donald Trump elector after state officials certified Joe Biden's victory in the 2020 election. The long-shot 'quo warranto' lawsuit was filed in Butts County Superior Court, where Jones lives. "
The journalists add, "The 47-page briefing, filed earlier this month, said the Republican has 'forfeited his right to hold public office and to discharge the duties' as lieutenant governor. It's part of a coordinated legal effort by Democrats to disqualify Trump and his allies from office by invoking Section 3 of the 14th Amendment."
