Ex-White House official: Democratic special election victory shows Trump 'has lost the suburbs'

Tuesday night, February 13 brought Democrats some important victories in special elections.
In New York's 3rd Congressional District, Democrats flipped the U.S. House seat formerly held by the disgraced George Santos when centrist Tom Suozzi defeated Republican Mazi Pilip. Meanwhile, in the Bucks County suburbs of Philadelphia, Democrat Jim Prokopiak defeated Republican Candace Cabanas in a Pennsylvania House of Representatives race — which means that Democrats will maintain a narrow majority in that branch of the state government.
House Speaker Mike Johnson (R-Louisiana) is arguing that Suozzi's victory in areas of Queens and Nassau County, Long Island shouldn't be viewed as a "bellwether." But former White House Communications Director Anthony Scaramucci views Suozzi's win as a demonstration of Trump's weakness in suburbia.

On X, formerly Twitter, Scaramucci posted, "Suozzi’s victory is a tell for Biden. Trump is finished. He has lost the suburbs."
Once a Trump ally who briefly served in his administration, Scaramucci is now highly critical of him. And he has said that if the 2024 election brings a Trump/President Joe Biden rematch, he will vote for Biden.
Scaramucci recently told CNN's Kasie Hunt that although he is a "lifelong Republican" and respects South Carolina Gov. Nikki Haley, he is a "patriot first and a partisan second."
Scaramucci told Hunt, "I'm going to go with the institutions of the democracy and the checks and balances of the system — and not somebody who is talking about tyranny and talking about being a dictator for a day, or talking about using the Department of Justice to persecute his political adversaries. He's also talked about taking FCC licenses away from companies that don't necessarily agree with his political views. So, I think we have to take these things seriously at this point."
