Ex-GOP governor backs 'strongest chance' Haley for president: reports
During a Sunday morning interview with CNN's Jake Tapper, former Maryland Governor Larry Hogan endorsed Nikki Haley for president, despite knowing former President Donald Trump will win the nomination during night one of Iowa caucuses Monday.
The ex-GOP leader believes the former South Carolina governor is the "strongest" chance — not ex-President Donald Trump — for Republicans to win in November.
"I've been saying since last spring when I made the decision not to one that I really didn’t want to see a multi-car pileup," Hogan said on CNN's State of the Union. "So yes. I think it is time for the party to get behind Nikki Haley. … I believe Nikki Haley is the strongest chance for us to put forth our best possible candidate for November."

Earlier this week, The Messenger notes, Hogan "stepped down from his leadership of the No Labels third party," emphasizing "the primaries currently appear to be a 'fight for second place.' But citing polling showing Haley within the single digits of former President Donald Trump in New Hampshire," the former governor says Haley is the party's best bet.
