During the trial for writer E. Jean Carroll's second defamation case against former President Donald Trump, the judge postponed the trial one day because one of the jurors was sick.

Rep. Elise Stefanik (R-New York) blamed Democrats for this development in a January 22 post on X, formerly Twitter, forwarding a tweet from an X user who noted that the New Hampshire GOP primary was the following day. And Stefanik's critics are calling her out for distorting what actually happened.

Stefanik wrote, "This is blatant election interference! Joe Biden and his Democrat cronies are the true threats to democracy! TRUMP 2024!"

The Meidas Touch Network was quick to slam Stefanik's claim as nonsense, tweeting, "A juror was sick and Trump's lawyer wasn't feeling well and she asked for the adjournment. You're an embarrassment."

CNN's Paula Reid tweeted, "What? The judge gave lawyers the option to continue with just eight jurors, after one went home sick, but Trump lawyer said she wanted an adjournment for the day. The Trump team had a choice and chose not to proceed today."

Democrat Harry Sisson pointed out that the postponement was requested by Trump's lawyer Alina Habba — not someone associated with the Biden campaign.

Sisson posted, "A juror was sick and Trump's lawyer Alina Habba asked for an adjournment. So are you really trying to claim that this one juror AND Trump's lawyer are trying to conspire against him?"

Republicans Against Trump called Stefanik out as well on X, posting, "This is a blatant lie, but what can you expect from Elise Stefanik, who'll say anything to become Trump's VP. Now to the facts: the trial was delayed after a juror was not feeling well on the way to court this morning. In addition, Trump's attorney Alina Habba, said she too was feeling ill and had a fever. She said she had dinner with her parents a few days ago, and they have been diagnosed with COVID-19."

Bloomberg News columnist Matthew Yglesias tweeted, "I think Trump supporters aren't being entirely on the level in their discussion of this case in general."

Activist Lorna MacGillivray told Stefanik, "Um.... it was Trumplethinskin's lawyer who didn't want to proceed. Don't you look like a silly gaslighter now?"
