Podcaster and political commentator Tim Miller says America is fated to live in the 2020s thanks to Fox News and the enduring lies that keep resurfacing in President Donald Trump’s second term.

“We’re in a time warp. … We’re never going to get out of 2020. We’re going to be doomed to live with the consequences of it for the rest of my days,” said Miller, citing California Gov. Gavin Newsome’s $787 million defamation case over Fox News and a recent exchange between Trump and a propagandist for ‘Lindell TV’ posing as a legitimate news reporter.

“There’s an asymmetric warfare happening where the Trump world and the Fox world is all in on absurd lies. They don’t care whether they’re true. They don’t care if they get sued. They are pedal to the medal. And the other side is trying to figure out how to punch back,” Miller said.

An example of what Newsome and the rest of America are up against was visible at Trump’s Friday press conference. It was there that ‘Lindell TV’ entertainer Cara Castronuova helped Trump pull America back into the lies of 2020 by enforcing Trump’s claim that the 2020 election was stolen.

“So many Americans still have questions about the 2020 election,” Castronuova told Trump, and asked if he would appoint someone at D.O.J. to investigate judges “for the political persecution of you, your family and your supporters during the Biden administration?”

Trump responded with: “I love you,” but Miller showed no such affection.

“This embarrassing hack, a frontwoman for Mike Lindell—an admitted liar in court for his advocacy of the big lie in 2020—wants to punish people who did the right thing. … She gets this platform to do shameless propaganda,” Miller spat. “I am not only going to advance lies for you, sir, Mr. president, but I’m going to ask you if you can act on those lies and devise ways to punish people who were acting appropriately doing their jobs and upholding their oath of office.”

“You’re a very nice person,” Trump burbled to Castronuova, adding quickly: “and it’s not a setup.”

It’s this kind of enabling that Newsome declares he is fighting in his lawsuit while chasing Fox News entertainer Mile Watters for editing out information that undermined Trump’s claim that he called the governor for an important conversation when Newsome says he did not.

“Enough of their lies,” Newsome said in his announcement. “We’ll see them in court.”

Miller said he admits to appreciating the charm of Newsome suing Fox for the exact same amount Fox “had to pay for Dominion lies that are still being spread in the White House briefing room.”

“I like to see ‘good for the goose, good for the gander’ type things … but the other side of me feels we’re going to a bad place,” said Miller. “Do I want the Democrats putting a rubber stamp on the idea of [suing journalists] if they get things wrong?”

Miller said he’s horrified that CBS, ABC and others “have been folding to Trump’s threats to the 1st amendment” and that “supposed free speech lawyers’ [are] doing a direct assault targeting media institutions, challenging them. Do I really want Democrats playing in this sandbox?”

“Even if he wins this lawsuit, we’ve already seen that Fox soldiers on. Losing a lawsuit hasn’t done anything to temper their behavior,” Miller said. “I wanna say ‘yeah, Gavin, get ‘em! But my ethical judgement says this isn’t right and I’m opposed to this in principal while the strategic side of me says … I don’t even know if this is a good strategy.”
