GOP candidate mocked over 'using a fake wife and kids for his campaign': report

Democrats on Thursday called out Derrick Anderson, a Virginia Republican candidate for Congress, in a new TV ad Thursday, over his use of "a fake wife and kids for his campaign," Politico reports.
Per the report, the GOP hopeful is "accused of staging a 'fake family' because he shot campaign footage with four women who were not related to him" in any way, and published it to his YouTube channel.
"The four women are actually the family members of Anderson’s close friend," Politico reports, emphasizing that "Anderson himself is engaged and has no children."

The Republican candidate's footage "showed the four laughing around a table and displayed a family photo-style image of them posing together," which the Democrats mimicked," according to the report.
Their ad includes an actor portraying Anderson, while "interacting with cardboard cutouts of those same four women from his campaign footage," the report notes.
