House Republican Dan Newhouse (R-Washington) — who voted to impeach Donald Trump following his incitement of the January 6 insurrection on the Capitol is expected to beat far-right opponent Jerrod Kessler, The Hill reports, per Decision Desk HQ.

Per the report, Sessler — who's a former NASCAR driver — called himself via social media a "Trump endorsed challenger to impeacher Dan Newhouse."

The news outlet reports that Sessler was also backed by the far-right House Freedom Caucus.

The Seattle Times noted last week that "Newhouse is, in almost all respects, the type of conservative Republican incumbent who would typically face little threat in Washington’s most conservative congressional district, a boot-shaped stretch of farmland, reservations and wilderness covering parts of eight counties in Central Washington."

His vote to impeach the president-elect put him in danger.

Seattle Times also reported that Trump on Truth Social last week wrote that the ex-NASCAR driver is a "fantastic candidate," and Newhouse is a "a Weak and Pathetic RINO named Newhouse, who voted to, for no reason, Impeach me."

Still, Newhouse has "won another term to represent Washington’s 4th Congressional District," The Hill reports.
