'Crap show of crap shows': GOP strategist challenges claim that Jordan 'has changed'

During Monday's episode of MSNBC's The Beat with Ari Melber, ex-Republican National Conference chairman Michael Steele tore into House Judiciary Committee Chairman Jim Jordan (R-OH) ahead of his colleagues' speaker vote set to take place Tuesday, October 17.
Melber played a Sunday, October 15 clip of U.S. Rep. Dan Crenshaw's (R-TX) interview with CNN's Jake Tapper, in which the congressman said Jordan's "reputation precedes him, but his reputation has changed. He has become part of the solution, not part of the problem. He defied the congressional subpoena and tried to get pension to overturn the votes. But anyway, if held that grudge, I wouldn't have friends in the Republican party."
The MSNBC host asked Steele his thoughts on the Texas lawmaker's words.
POLL: Should Trump be allowed to hold office again?
The GOP strategist replied, "Well, with friends like that, really? That's your standard? Is that the bar? You know, Crenshaw is exactly right. You said he's changed. From what? Into what? And when have we seen an example of that? He's leading the charge to impeach the President of the United States on what basis? No grounds — no constitutional grounds on which to prosecute this case. So, where has he changed? There's nothing about Jim Jordan that has changed. These folks are talking themselves into further stupidity because they have no way out. So I have to rationalize, 'Ok he's my guy, because if I'm really honest with myself, I'm sitting in a corner, and I'm banging my head against the wall, because this is the crap shows of crap shows, and I'm in it. So I've gotta make myself look and smell better.' So, yeah, Jim Jordan has changed."
