George Conway rips 'pathological liar' Trump for distorting Biden’s hurricane response

At the end of September, Hurricane Helene inflicted major damage on the southeastern United States — from Florida to Georgia to the Carolinas. Widespread flooding, millions of power outages and more than 120 deaths were reported.
2024 GOP presidential nominee Donald Trump's response was to falsely claim that President Joe Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris neglected the victims — and that Georgia Gov. Brian Kemp was unable to reach Biden. But many of Trump's critics have been pushing back against that claim, including conservative attorney George Conway.
During a panel discussion with MSNBC's Jen Psaki, the Never Trump conservative said of Trump, "He only cares if a particular crisis can be used to manipulate the public. And that's why he's willing to tell lie after lie. I mean, he's a pathological liar. He doesn't have that shame gene that the rest of us have when we even make the slightest mistake, even accidentally."

Conway continued, "He's just going to say whatever pops into his mind that he wants people to believe at any given moment."
The attorney praised Vice President Kamala Harris' campaign for "doing things to trigger" Trump.
On her MSNBC show, Psaki — who formerly served as White House press secretary in the Biden Administration — contrasted what Kemp said about Biden's response to Hurricane Helene with what Trump said.
Trump, campaigning in Georgia, claimed, "The federal government is not being responsive. They're having a very hard time getting the president on the phone."

But Kemp, a conservative Republican, told reporters, "The president just called me yesterday afternoon. I missed him and called him right back, and he just said, 'Hey, what do you need?' And I told him, you know, 'We got what we need. We'll work through the federal process.' He offered that if there's other things we need, just to call him directly, which, I appreciate that."
Trump's claims got a scathing response from Biden, who told reporters, "Let me get this straight: I don't know why he does this, and the reason I get so angry about it — I don't care about what he says about me, I care what he communicates to the people that are in need. He implies that we're not doing everything possible. We are. We are."
