With the stock market plummeting, President Donald Trump announced a 90-day postponement for some of his non-China tariffs on Wednesday afternoon, April 9. A CNN panel later discussed the tariffs and Trump's foreign policy on "NewsNight with Abby Phillip," and the conversation became heated when longtime GOP operative Scott Jennings clashed with fellow panelist and former MSNBC host Tiffany Cross.

Jennings, an aggressive Trump defender, insulted Cross by pointing out that her MSNBC show "The Cross Connection" was canceled in 2022.

Cross was highly critical of Trump's desire for the U.S. to acquire Greenland, saying, "It's a colonizer's attitude to say: I like it, I'm just gonna steal it…. You cannot just go and say: I like it, it's mine now. It doesn’t work that way. That is what they're trying to do."

Jennings became defensive, telling Cross, "I have never, ever said we're going to go to Greenland and colonize it or steal it. That's crazy.'"

Cross told Jennings, "I'm not even talking about you. You're not a member of government. So you're irrelevant on that point. I'm talking about the president of the United States."

Referring to the cancellation of Cross' show, Jennings told her, "You got fired from your job. How relevant are you?"

The former MSNBC host shot back, "What you lack in a legitimate point, you make up for in personal insults."
