Former President Bill Clinton has been “taken to the hospital this afternoon for testing and observation,” CNN’s Jeff Zeleny reports.

Clinton “developed a fever earlier today, and his aides took him to the hospital out of an abundance of caution,” Zeleny said Monday, noting “the former president hopes to be home by Christmas.”

Clinton is admitted to Georgetown University Medical Center, CNN reports.

Zeleny noted Clinton has had “well known” heart issues but “did change his lifestyle” years ago to a “strict vegan-friendly diet.”

“He’s looked pretty good” on the campaign trail, Zeleny said.
