Republican 2024 presidential candidate Chris Christie on today's edition of Fox News Sunday blasted former President Donald Trump for his unyielding obsession with self-image and refusal to admit to himself that the public has repeatedly rejected his brand of toxic politics.

"Here's why he doesn't care about the American people," said Christie, an ex-New Jersey governor and failed 2016 White House contender who hopes he can dethrone Trump's frontrunner status ahead of the January 15th, 2024 Iowa Caucuses.

"He droned on for an hour and a half yesterday in Iowa. He lied about the farm deal with the Chinese. They haven't even complied with a quarter of what they agreed to Donald Trump to do in terms of buying soybeans and other things from the farmers in Iowa and he spent the rest of the time talking about his own indictment," Christie observed, alluding to the numerous criminal charges that have been filed against Trump. "This is not somebody who's fighting for the American people and their future."

Trump's current bid for a second nonconsecutive term "is all about his ego," Christie continued. "What he cares about the most is trying to undo the loss he had to Joe Biden in 2020. But since he's a three-time loser, having lost in 2018, the House of Representatives, lost the White House, and the Senate in 2020 and in 2022."

Trump also "wound up losing two more governorships, another seat in the Senate. And we barely won the House by five votes when in fact, you know, you had a president whose popularity was at thirty-five percent," Christie said of President Joe Biden.

"So he's in this for himself and himself only," Christie added of Trump, "and not in it for the American people."
