Blake Moore appears to fall asleep

Breaking Social

Early Wednesday morning, May 14, the House Ways and Means Committee needed to take a markup vote. And when Rep. Blake Moore (R-Utah) was called upon, he had fallen asleep.

C-SPAN video shows Rep. Michelle Fischbach (R-Minnesota) waking up Moore so that he could vote. After waking up, Moore — who serves as vice chairman of the House Republican Conference — gave a "no" vote.

C-SPAN's video is drawing a lot of comments on X, formerly Twitter.

Self-described "irregular European blogger" Vincent Harris tweeted, "Al Bundy made it to the House Ways and Means committee."

Al Bundy was the character actor Ed O'Neill, now 79, famously played on the hit 1980s/1990s sitcom "Married With Children."

The National Journal's Jeff Dufour posted, "Ah, the old 'wake-and-Blake.'"

X user Jeff Meyers wrote, "These are elected representatives and they think it’s funny to fall asleep at work. They don’t care about you."
