'Sad!' Trump mocked and pilloried as Truth Social crashes before Biden’s SOTU
Although President Joe Biden never mentioned Donald Trump by name during his fiery State of the Union address on Thursday night, March 7 — only referring to him as "my predecessor" — he laid out a long list of reasons to vote against the likely 2024 GOP presidential nominee in November, from abortion rights to Social Security to foreign policy.
Reporters covering the speech visited Trump's social media platform Truth Social to see what MAGA Republicans had to say in response — or rather, tried to. According to The Daily Beast's William Vaillancourt, Truth Social was plagued by "technical issues" that were "lingering for at least an hour before and into" Biden's SOTU address.
Vaillancourt reports, "Beginning shortly before 9 p.m. EST Thursday, outages numbered in the thousands, according to Downdetector. The outages peaked an hour later and then began to slowly resume back to normal, according to the monitor. Around the same time, users on X reported not being able to access Trump's feed, with some — including former Trump White House Press Secretary Alyssa Farah Griffin — mocking him for it."

On X, formerly Twitter, Griffin posted, "Trump said he'd be live fact-checking Biden's SOTU but Truth Social appears to be down. Sad!"
Vaillancourt notes that Fox News' Bret Baier offered to put Trump on the air.
Baier told viewers, "If the former president wants to call in, we're happy to put him (on) instead of just reading Truth Social posts."
Vaillancourt also points out that the night of Biden's SOTU, Trump not only attacked Biden, but other political foes as well — including conservative Sen. Mitt Romney (R-Utah).

On Truth Social, Trump posted, "Thankfully, we don't have to be looking at RINO Mitt Romney much longer!"
In a different Truth Social post, Trump said of Biden, "This was an angry, polarizing, and hate-filled Speech. He barely mentioned Immigration, or the Worst Border in the History of the World. He will never fix Immigration, nor does he want to. He wants our Country to be flooded with Migrants. Crime will raise to levels never seen before, and it is happening very quickly!"
