Most of us are have seen headlines about the burgeoning student-loan crisis. Still, we do not appear to have hit rock-bottom. A new report shows that student-loan delinquency rates have gone through the roof in recent years and that, even more troubling, we may be entering a "danger zone" in which the entire U.S. economy is at risk.

6 Foods That Companies Hype to Make You Think They Are Healthy

There’s nothing inherently wrong with high-calorie foods. We should all be able to eat whatever we want, and no one should ever be shamed for occasionally going to town on some junk food. Texas AG Thinks Annoying Liberals Is More Important Than Spending Donors' Money Wisely

Everything is bigger than Texas, including the right-wing shenanigans. After New York Governor Andrew Cuomo and other lawmakers pushed through stricter gun laws earlier this week in the wake of the Sandy Hook shooting, Texas Attorney General Greg Abbott decided to waste some of his campaign dollars to buy ads in Albany and New York City urging gun-loving New Yorkers to move to his state, where gun laws are obviously more lax. It was an obvious ploy to get under the skin of pro-gun restriction New York liberals (and liberals in general).

Jon Stewart Mercilessly Mocks Pro-Gun Right-Wingers Over Obama "Tyranny" Allegations

On last night's Daily Show, Jon Stewart went to town on Fox Newsers and other right-wingers who are freaking out over the gun measures announced by Obama this week. After working in a quick reference to the Manti Te'o saga, Stewart tore into conservatives who are calling "tyranny" over Obama's call for universal background checks and bans on assault weapons and high-capacity magazines, saying, "1) Those measures enjoy, I believe, majority support in the latest polls, and 2) when tyrants want things done, they generally don't ask their legislative bodies if that would be OK. They tend to process -- what's the word I'm looking for? -- tyrannically."

The Manti Te'o Fake Dead Girlfriend Saga, as Depicted by Taiwanese Animators

It's that inevitable moment in the arc of any dramatic celebrity saga when the Taiwanese animators swoop in. The latest celeb to get the Taiwanese animation treatment is Notre Dame football player Manti Te'o and his "fake dead girlfriend," Lennay Kekua. For the uninitiated, the story broke when Deadspin published a piece revealing that Kekua, who was believed to have died the same day as Te'o's grandmother, never existed. This means that the widely reported story that Te'o had played this season under the pall of two deaths wasn't strictly true -- though not even Te'o was aware. After much back-and-forth in the media, it now seems that Te'o was the victim of a hoax, and the woman who punked him may have done the same to others. It's a bizarre enough story on its own, but just check out what the animators did with it:

The 7 Worst Things About McDonald's

McDonald’s has become synonymous with food that’s terrible for you, low-wage jobs and overzealous marketing to children.
