'The party of fiscal responsibility is making an atrocious investment': former RNC chair

Sitting in for MSNBC's Chris Hayes Thursday, former Republican National Committee Chair and host of MSNBC's The Weekend, Michael Steele, insisted that the committee is headed down a path of destruction, thanks to former President Donald Trump.
"As a real estate developer, Donald Trump loved to put his name on 'OPB' — other peoples buildings," Steele said. "Now, he's about to pull off a similar re-branding on the Republican National Committee. And it's going to end up pretty much like his failed Atlantic City casino. After forcing one time ally, Ronna McDaniel, out as RNC chair, Trump endorsed his own daughter-in-law for co-chair. Today, Lara Trump spoke at CPAC [Conservative Political Action Conference], laying out the plan."
Steele proceeded to play a clip of Lara Trump telling the CPAC crowd, "Ladies and gentlemen, I come bearing good news here today. Because less than nine months away, we will see Donald J. Trump elected as the 47th president."

Lara Trump also told NBC News Thursday she's confident MAGA supporters would "absolutely" be okay with their donations being used to cover her father-in-law's mounting legal bills — which have exceeded $400 million.
The former RNC leader emphasized, "By going all in on this capitulation to Trump, the party of fiscal responsibility is making an atrocious investment."
