'Without a paddle': AOC lays into Kevin McCarthy’s commitment to do Marjorie Taylor Greene’s 'bidding'

Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY), during Sunday interview with MSNBC's Jen Psaki, shared her thoughts on House Speaker Kevin McCarthy's (R-CA) leadership — or lack thereof, Mediaite reports.
In January, McCarthy did not secure his role of House Speaker until the 15th vote, leaving some lawmakers wondering what kind of "backroom deals" were likely made with his MAGA colleagues — like Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-GA) — for the GOPer to finally secure the coveted spot.
During the latest segment of Inside with Jen Psaki, Psaki noted, "Speaker McCarthy, in order to become speaker, had to cut some deals we still don't know the details on," before asking AOC whether she thinks "he's actually running his caucus or do you think someone else is."

The Democratic congresswoman replied, "He's not," adding, "I think you you've got Marjorie Taylor Greene running the caucus. I mean, and she makes very common public statements to that effect. Every time something irks her, she communicates that McCarthy is doing her bidding. And I think that this is something that is quite clear."
She continued, "I think that Speaker McCarthy is stuck between having to please the most racist and heinous elements of his party with having to maintain a majority, and he is choosing to side with the extremists," concluding, "He's kind of brought himself up a creek without a paddle."
Referring to his relationship with Greene, the GOP leader has said, "I will never leave that woman" and emphasized, "I will always take care of her."
