'Absolutely hypnotized zombie': Critics outraged as Trump refuses to take blame for economy

President Donald Trump on Wednesday blamed the stock market's underperformance in the first 100 days of his administration on former President Joe Biden. In a post on his Truth Social platform, Trump defended his economic approach and called on Americans to "be patient," even as reports indicated that the United States' economy shrank in the year's first quarter.
During a press conference along with his Cabinet following the Truth Social statement to mark the first 100 days of the administration, Trump doubled down on this position, saying that Biden may be responsible even for the next quarter. “You could even say the next quarter is sort of Biden…," he told reporters Wednesday.
Social media was appalled by the president's insistence that the former president is responsible for the stock market's situation.
User @ChidiNwatu said, "Trump knows the Q2 numbers will be worse, so why not continue to blame Biden for it? He's going to spend the next four years blaming Biden."
User Mike George wrote, "Translation: my tariff war has backfired and the worst is yet to come so I'm preemptively blaming Biden. Pam Bondi: so true Mr. President, everything bad that happens is Biden's fault and everything good is because you're the greatest POTUS ever."
