'Thank you for watching': CNN Host trolls Trump in real time following rage post

Mediaite reports CNN ‘NewsNight’ anchor Abby Phillip had a quick comeback to President Donald Trump minutes after he rage-posted about negative commentary he saw on her show—while claiming nobody watches her show.

Phillip had credited recent highs in the stock market to Trump “backing down” on his tariffs threats.

“Here’s one [explanation for the good economy] from Jason Furman, an economist,” Phillip said. “The macro economy is doing decently, he said, especially when it comes to tariffs. The market is now more confident that Trump will back off, if necessary. He added in April, I think the fear was that he would just plow ahead no matter what. Now, there is a sense that there are realities that he won’t try to blow past.”

“… [T]he truth is Trump is, in fact, backing down and the markets have calmed because of that,” she said.

It was close to midnight when Trump obviously saw the show and slammed it.

“Where does CNN get its talent?” Trump posted. “Just watched someone named Abby Phillip lecture her audience on Tariffs and the economy (which is doing record business!). She has absolutely no idea what she is talking about, strictly 3rd rate. Fortunately, the audience has long ago left CNN, and it will only get WORSE. LOSERS ALL!!!”

Phillip took to X at the end of the show, responding with a post pointing out that her show obviously had one member left among its audience.

“Thank you for watching Mr. President,” Phillip wrote above a screenshot of Trump’s post.
