'Terrible' Trump White House 'Daddy’s Home' video draws widespread mockery: 'Lost the plot'

Although Donald Trump often attacked the North American Treaty Organization (NATO) vehemently during his first presidency — even toying with the idea of the U.S. withdrawing from the alliance — he attended the 2025 NATO Summit in The Hague, Netherlands. British reporter Deborah Haynes, during a Wednesday, June 25 press briefing at the event, pointed out that NATO Secretary General and former Dutch Prime Minister Mark Rutte had referred to the U.S. president as "daddy" — and the "daddy" meme is now the basis for a video officially released by the Trump White House.
The video, posted on the White House's @WhiteHouse account on X, formerly Twitter, on June 25, shows clips of Trump in the Hague for the NATO Summit while R&B star Usher's 2009 hit "Hey Daddy (Daddy's Home)" plays. And the video is generating a lot of comments on X.
The X account for progressive host Kyle Kulinski's "Secular Talk" commented, "Pretty sure MAGA doesn't know who Usher even is."

ABC News' Jonathan Karl noted that the video was "an official product of the WH communications office."
Trump voter Nick Bonardi posted, "Who does this appeal to?.... I feel like I'm watching a Kamala (Harris) video."
X user @ComfortSucks, a supporter of "Christian nationalism," agreed with Bonardi — posting, "I was trying to put into words how terrible this video is but you nailed it. White female boomers and MAGA influencers will call it based but everyone knows it s---. Kamala video is spot on."
Another X user, Ian Simmons, remarked, "Looks more like a tourist putting that hat on than a world leader."
Far-right MAGA supporter Emil Vicale tweeted, "Americans First - Evil, angry, baby-killing liberals have lost the plot."
