Lauren Boebert faces tough reelection as challengers receive 'eye-popping sums' and key 'endorsements'

Rep. Lauren Boebert (R-Colorado) has some major hurdles to overcome in the 2024 election.
First, the far-right MAGA Republican has an aggressive primary challenger in GOP attorney Jeff Hurd. And if Boebert defeats Hurd and wins the nomination, she will likely face Adam Frisch, the Democratic frontrunner, in the general election.
In a report published on December 26, Time's Mini Racker stresses that unseating Boebert is a high priority for Democrats — as well as for Boebert's conservative critics in the GOP.
POLL: Should Trump be allowed to hold office again?
"Democratic frontrunner Adam Frisch, the candidate who nearly defeated Boebert in the midterms, has continued to raise eye-popping sums," Racker reports. "Yet it's not clear he will get to face off against Boebert again, as her most formidable Republican challenger, attorney Jeff Hurd, has racked up endorsements in recent months. Even President Joe Biden, whose State of the Union address Boebert once heckled, has gotten involved, stopping by the district in November for a campaign event and mocking her voting record."
Racker adds, "It's all setting the stage for Colorado's 3rd (Congressional) District to be perhaps the most closely-watched House race of 2024, as voters in the district and around the country watch how the money and time the players have poured into the race pays off."
Although Colorado is a very competitive state for Democrats — the last Republican to carry the state in a presidential election was George W. Bush in 2004 — Boebert's district is quite conservative. Yet Democrat Frisch lost to her by less than 1 percent in 2022.
"Some Republicans worry that the incumbent won't be able to hold the seat if she faces off against Frisch, and see Hurd as the safer choice," Racker notes. "The candidates still have six more months to prepare for the June 25 primary, which is scheduled months after Coloradans vote on their presidential nominees in March."
