Social media explodes with reactions after Ron DeSantis signs Florida's draconian anti-abortion bill into law
On Thursday, April 14, far-right Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis signed into law a draconian anti-abortion bill that bans the procedure 15 weeks into a pregnancy, making no exceptions for rape or incest. This comes at a time when states with Republican governors, from Texas to Mississippi to Oklahoma, are passing restrictive anti-abortion laws and the U.S. Supreme Court is preparing to evaluate Dobbs v. Jackson Women’s Health Organization — a case that is likely to result in Roe v. Wade being overturned.

Ron DeSantis signed into law a bill that requires minors to obtain parental consent in order to receive an abortion. We can replace him with a Democratic pro-choice woman.— EMILY's List (@EMILY's List) 1626274866
We’ll be real: The stakes for reproductive freedom are high right now. And we wouldn’t be able to do the work we do to protect and expand abortion rights and access without the support of our incredible volunteers. You’re the backbone of our movement. Thank you.— NARAL (@NARAL) 1649952028

The American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU) vowed to fight the Florida law in court:
BREAKING: The governor of Florida just signed an extreme bill banning abortion after 15 weeks of pregnancy and criminalizing doctors who provide abortion care.

We'll keep saying it: No one should be forced to carry a pregnancy against their will.

We'll see Florida in court.— ACLU (@ACLU) 1649952201
Former Florida Gov. Charlie Crist posted:
DeSantis has signed into law an unconstitutional attack on women that strips away their reproductive freedom.

Women should make decisions about their own bodies, not governors. I'd veto this bill and any attempt to restrict the right to choose. Full stop.— Charlie Crist (@Charlie Crist) 1649950212

Meanwhile, comprehensive access to sex education and birth control, along with better wages and child support, and education regarding respect and consent would decrease the amount of abortions in the long run - too bad no one wants to address the root cause.— ms_synonym (@ms_synonym) 1649954389
