Pelosi slams GOP minority leader in epic exchange over impeachment
House Speaker Nancy Pelosi responded Thursday afternoon to a letter from the Republican House minority leader questioning the integrity of the impeachment process and calling for its suspension.
"As you know, our Founders were specifically intent on ensuring that foreign entities did not undermine the integrity of our elections," Pelosi reminded Rep. Kevin McCarthy. "I received your letter this morning shortly after the world witnessed President Trump on national television asking yet another foreign power to interfere in the upcoming 2020 elections. We hope you and other Republicans share our commitment to following the facts, upholding the Constitution, protecting our national security, and defending the integrity of our elections at such a serious moment in our nation's history." Boom.
Translation: I got your stupid letter. Trump just solicited help from China in 2020 on national TV. Either do your duty as an elected representative or piss off. The end.
Pelosi's three-paragraph response to McCarthy's two-page letter was curt. She also reminded him that members of Congress take an oath to "support and defend the Constitution,” in case he had forgotten.
Seems like someone took the training wheels off McCarthy's bike too soon, and Pelosi has been left to clean up the damage.
