'This is just ugly': These conservatives were horrified by the Trump rally's 'send her back' chants

President Donald Trump's rally Wednesday night in North Carolina featured a new despicable chant that may become a new favorite among his fans. When Trump started speaking about Rep. Ilhan Omar, a Muslim Democratic congresswoman who came to the United States as a child refugee, his crowd started cheering "send her back."

They were echoing Trump's weekend tweets and continued attack on Omar and her allies, who the president said should "go back" to their home countries. (Out of the group, Omar was the only actual immigrant; all are women of color.)

Some conservative writers and figures, even some who can be sympathetic to Trump and deeply critical of Omar, were aghast at the development.
