MSNBC's Nicolle Wallace and the panel of guests on her show "Deadline: White House" tore into President Donald Trump's myriad policy failures on Wednesday as multiple waves of bad news wash over the administration.

"As President Trump struggles with immigration policy here at home, his pursuit of a Nobel Peace Prize looks decidedly out of reach," she said. "Just five days after a nuclear summit collapsed, we learned about new satellite images that reveal North Korea's rapid rebuilding of a major long-range rocket site it had claimed it was dismantling. Researchers insist recent activity is consistent with preparations for another test — perhaps of a long-range missile."

"All White Houses face times of difficulty," said Ron Klain, a former chief of staff to Vice President Joe Biden. "But what's fascinating here is that Trump's wheels are coming off on his core initiatives. Not something that is not really central to it — his core foreign policy initiative is North Korea. His core domestic policy initiative is immigration. News out this week that after he promised to get rid of the budget deficit, it's reaching a record high for non-recessionary times. He said he'd solve trade — news out today: record-high trade deficit! So on these things that were really the core of the Trump presidency, his core initiatives, he's in trouble, and it's getting worse, not better."

Wallace noted that a source at one point had told her that Trump's re-election strategy would be to run on North Korea — but he has nothing to show for it so far.

"He projected an image of success that is not real and that is being revealed as a fraud in the failure with which his government is running the federal levers of power," she said.

"These are not promises kept," agreed conservative writer Charlie Sykes. "Donald Trump's whole image as a business guy who can cut the deal and is competent — is it being undermined?"
