Let's Face It, the NRA Is an Outlaw Organization - Making Human Appeals to It Is Hopeless
NRA and pro-gun lawmakers, will you claim the “real" problem is mental illness or terrorism or hate groups, instead of the fact that anyone can legally buy an AR-15 to massacre civilians. Even if the gunman, identified by police as U.S. citizen Omar Mateen, was directed by ISIL, there are thousands of other U.S. citizens who can similarly buy military weapons and kill us on our own soil, thanks to you. Yet even after the December San Bernardino massacre that killed 14 and seriously wounded 22, you blocked a law to ban people on the Terror Watch List from buying guns. You love guns more than you love your own nation.
Homegrown terrorists are everywhere in the U.S. abetted by the gun lobby. The U.S.-born Chattanooga terrorist passed his background check and killed four Marines and one Navy sailor on their own soil. (And no, it was not a “gun-free zone.” Military Times says, “At least two service members involved in the Chattanooga shooting were carrying personal weapons during the attack, in possible violation of current military rules, and unsuccessfully returned fire in an attempt to stop the homicidal gunman.”)
Will you claim, like Donald Trump amazingly did about the Bataclan theater massacre in Paris, that victims would be alive today if they had been armed and ready and returned fire—assuming anyone could see or hear? Will you keep chanting that only good guys with guns stop bad guys with guns even as you arm bad guys by blocking guns laws?
Will you defend military-style weapons like the AR-15, the clear choice of mass murderers from Aurora to Umpqua Community College because they massacre scores of people in seconds?
Will you claim that military-style weapons are used in few shootings, protected by the Second Amendment and that a “ban” did not lower the bloodshed? (Ignoring the way gun manufacturers modified weapons to duck the ban making it toothless?) Will you even keep defending armor piercing bullets?
Any violent hater can get a firearm in the U.S. as we saw with the Charleston murder of nine churchgoers and the murder of a police officer and two civilians at a Planned Parenthood facility. Those shooters passed their background checks, as did 18 recent mass shooters. Yesterday, "The Voice” star Christina Grimmie was also killed by someone with no criminal record.
NRA and pro-gun lawmakers: you yell “bad guys” don’t follow gun laws, but 69 of the last 81 mass shooters were the "law-abiding" gun owners you defend. Until they weren't.
