Miley Cyrus, Jon Stewart and 15 More Celebrities America Will Lose If Donald Trump Wins
This article was originally published at Revelist.
Americans threatening to move to Canada should so-and-so get elected is historically all too common, and certainly that's no different this presidential election. The day after Donald Trump's Super Tuesday wins in March, Canada's immigration website received so much traffic it crashed, and "move to Canada" got more Google searches than it has since George W. Bush's re-election.Â
For most of us, though, this so-called "threat" is really just a load of hot air, intended to mollify us in some way. Even if a Canadian island is offering refugee status to Americans should Trump be elected, the reality is most of us wouldn't have the means to go. But how would that change if you were a celebrity?
These 17 celebs have all pledged to flee the States in the event of a Trumpocaplyse, and given their inherent status and privilege, they actually have the potential to put their money where their anti-Trump mouths are. See which stars are vowing to become expatriates — and who is claiming they'll leave Earth altogether—below.
1. Lena Dunham

"I know a lovely place in Vancouver, and I can get my work done from there," Dunham, a staunch Clinton supporter, said at the Matrix Awards in April. "I know a lot of people have been threatening to do this, but I really will."
2. Raven Symone
[[{"type":"media","view_mode":"media_original","fid":"613007","attributes":{"alt":"","class":"media-image","height":"500","style":"width: 193px; height: 250px;","typeof":"foaf:Image","width":"385"}}]]

Before Trump had officially secured the Republican nomination, Symone said on "The View"Â she would move her entire family to Canada if any Republican were elected. "I already have my ticket. I literally bought my ticket, I swear," she asserted.Â
3. Miley Cyrus
[[{"type":"media","view_mode":"media_original","fid":"612996","attributes":{"alt":"","class":"media-image","height":"500","style":"height: 250px; width: 167px;","typeof":"foaf:Image","width":"334"}}]]

Cyrus, who hasn't been shy about broadcasting her extreme disdain for Trump, delivered an ultimatum after finding a photo of him posing with an infamous big-game hunter. "Honestly fuck this shit I am moving if this is my president! I don't say things I don't mean!" she wrote in an emotional Instagram post.Â
4. Cher
[[{"type":"media","view_mode":"media_original","fid":"613006","attributes":{"alt":"","class":"media-image","height":"334","style":"width: 374px; height: 250px;","typeof":"foaf:Image","width":"500"}}]]

Of course Cher isn't content to merely cross the border into Canada if Trump is elected. She's announced that if he wins, she'll be moving somewhere even more orange than the new POTUS's skin: Jupiter.Â
5. Whoopi Goldberg
[[{"type":"media","view_mode":"media_original","fid":"612998","attributes":{"alt":"","class":"media-image","height":"500","style":"width: 167px; height: 250px;","typeof":"foaf:Image","width":"334"}}]]

On "The View," Goldberg mused that if Americans were capable of electing someone as racist and sexist as Trump, then "maybe it's time for me to move." (She later changed her tune, vowing she's "not going anywhere" after Trump's son offered to buy her plane ticket.)
6. Rosie O'Donnell
[[{"type":"media","view_mode":"media_original","fid":"613010","attributes":{"alt":"","class":"media-image","height":"500","style":"width: 167px; height: 250px;","typeof":"foaf:Image","width":"334"}}]]

Given O'Donnell and Trump's decade-long feud, it's no surprise she claimed she'd leave the country if he became president. During a phone interview on "Fox & Friends," he gleefully responded to her declaration, "Now I have to get elected!" Like Goldberg, the celebratory jeering led O'Donnell to double back and tweet that, only joking, she is never leaving the U.S.Â
7. Samuel L. Jackson
[[{"type":"media","view_mode":"media_original","fid":"612999","attributes":{"alt":"","class":"media-image","height":"500","style":"width: 167px; height: 250px;","typeof":"foaf:Image","width":"333"}}]]

Jackson's stance on what he'd do if Trump won was pretty strong. "If that motherfucker becomes president, I will move my Black ass to South Africa," he told Jimmy Kimmel.Â
8. Neve Campbell

The "House of Cards" actress called Trump winning the November election her "biggest fear," and said she'd "move back to Canada" if he did. She was born in Ontario, so her threat carries a bit more weight in my book than Dunham's or Symone's.Â
9. The Reverend Al Sharpton
[[{"type":"media","view_mode":"media_original","fid":"613002","attributes":{"alt":"","class":"media-image","height":"334","style":"width: 374px; height: 250px;","typeof":"foaf:Image","width":"500"}}]]

The Rev. hasn't endorsed a candidate in the upcoming election, but we know who he sure as hell isn'tvoting for. "If Donald Trump is the nominee ... I’m also reserving my ticket to get out of here if he wins. Only because he’d probably have me deported anyhow," he said at a Center for American Progress Action Fund event.Â
10. Jon Stewart
[[{"type":"media","view_mode":"media_original","fid":"613001","attributes":{"alt":"","class":"media-image","height":"500","style":"width: 193px; height: 250px;","typeof":"foaf:Image","width":"385"}}]]

Much like Cher, Stewart would prefer to put as much distance as possible between himself and a Trump-run country. If The Donald won, Stewart "would consider getting in a rocket and going to another planet," he joked at the 2015 Emmy Awards. "Because clearly this planet's gone bonkers."Â
11. George Lopez
[[{"type":"media","view_mode":"media_original","fid":"613003","attributes":{"alt":"","class":"media-image","height":"500","style":"width: 163px; height: 250px;","typeof":"foaf:Image","width":"326"}}]]

Lopez mused to TMZ expand=1] that there are "enough racists in this country for (Trump) to get elected." Born in Los Angeles but of Mexican descent, he continued that if Trump does win, "He won’t have to worry about immigration. We’ll all go back."Â

Handler revealed to Vanity Fair that she purchased property abroad in preparation for a potential Trumpocalypse. "I have a house in Spain that's going to be ready right after the election," she said.Â
13. Eddie Griffin
[[{"type":"media","view_mode":"media_original","fid":"613008","attributes":{"alt":"","class":"media-image","height":"500","style":"width: 167px; height: 250px;","typeof":"foaf:Image","width":"334"}}]]

The comedian has talked at length about the Republican nominee's racism and vowed that, were Trump to win the presidency, he's moving to Africa.
14. Chloë Sevigny
[[{"type":"media","view_mode":"media_original","fid":"613009","attributes":{"alt":"","class":"media-image","height":"500","style":"width: 166px; height: 250px;","typeof":"foaf:Image","width":"332"}}]]

Actress, fashion icon, and general "It Girl" Chloe Sevigny declared expand=1] if Trump wins, she'll be moving to Nova Scotia. (Which, p.s., is in Canada, but of course Sevigny is too cool to just say that).Â
15. Natasha Lyonne
[[{"type":"media","view_mode":"media_original","fid":"613004","attributes":{"alt":"","class":"media-image","height":"500","style":"width: 167px; height: 250px;","typeof":"foaf:Image","width":"333"}}]]

The "Orange Is the New Black" star has a pretty dismal view of where she'll wind up should Trump get elected. She joked she'll throw in her cards and go "straight to hell, or a mental hospital for a while. Because you're like, 'Why is this happening?'"
16. Omari Hardwick
The actor told The Wrap he'll be moving his family to Italy if Trump is elected. The real question for Hardwick, though, is that if you have the ability to live in Italy — why aren't you already doing so, dude? Does one NEED a political catastrophe as justification for relocating to paradise? I mean, really.Â
17. Spike Lee
[[{"type":"media","view_mode":"media_original","fid":"613005","attributes":{"alt":"","class":"media-image","height":"334","style":"width: 374px; height: 250px;","typeof":"foaf:Image","width":"500"}}]]

Were Trump to win, director Spike Lee believes there is one U.S. city that will remain a Republican-free stronghold. If the tycoon wins, Lee said he'll be "moving back to the republic of Brooklyn, New York." As a Brooklyn resident myself, I'm totally digging the idea of a Lee-led, Trump-based secession. Bring on the block parties.Â
