Avoid the Trappings of Global Leadership

There is latent evidence that America is deferring to their President-elect even before he enters the Oval Office. Prompting the now familiar Obama refrain; “[T]here is only one president at a time”.
But like the hapless incumbent, and indeed Bush senior and Bill Clinton before him, an Obama presidency assumes the trappings of global leadership.
Presidential historian, Arthur M. Schlesinger, Jr., once remarked, “foreign policy is the face a nation wears to the world”. Granted, 100 days is a long time to smile, but it’s exactly what’s required of Obama, after almost eight years of an ugly and Janus-faced America.
