The first half of 2016 saw devastating events that have left many—including us—feeling pessimistic about the future of the U.S. and the world.

It is easy to be frustrated by some of the recent occurrences in the U.S. and around the world. Yet as evidenced by some inspiring signs, different aspects of sustainability are being embraced in the U.S., in various ways and by various actors.
