Donald Trump Jr.'s Indian Vacation: The Family Cash-Grab Continues

There's a lot going on with the Mueller investigation this week, with a previously unknown Dutch lawyer pleading guilty to lying to the FBI about his phone calls with Trump's deputy campaign manager and shady Ukrainians and all. These latest charges from the special counsel are among the most obscure we've seen yet: They seem to be connected to some ugly episodes that took place in Ukraine in recent years under the direction of Paul Manafort, who later wormed his way into the Trump campaign and is now under indictment. There is no clear indication of exactly where this is going, which is certainly intriguing. Stay tuned for more.

The 5 Worst Ways GOP Hypocrites Observed MLK Day on Twitter

If the GOP was writing a Tinder profile, its hobbies would include cutting taxes for the wealthy, pretending to disagree with Donald Trump even while voting for his bills, and tweeting about the accomplishments of Martin Luther King Jr. while continuing to defile his legacy. Yes, Republicans may be holding the futures of 800,000 DACA repicipients and the healthcare for 9 million poor children hostage, but they made time in their busy social-safety-net-slashing schedules to pay lip service to Dr. King on his birthday. Here are five of the most egregiously hypocritical tributes from GOP Twitter.

Will the Trumps Make Steve Bannon Come Crawling Back?

As we go into week two of the "Fire and Fury" extravaganza, the narratives are starting to take shape. The first, and in my view, most important story is that Michael Wolff's book indicates that this family of misfits who eventually became the Trump administration may have thought they were doing a national brand promotional tour instead of running for office. In the course of that, they may have given some of their "customers" in foreign countries the idea that they were open for business. We knew they were corrupt, but this is the first time we've understood that the Trump family and its hangers-on went into this whole thing cynically, just looking to make a quick buck.

Watch: Larry David and Bernie Sanders Are Related

The glaring similarities between Bernie Sanders and Larry David have always suggested that there must be a deep connection between them. Both the Vermont senator and the Curb Your Enthusiasm frontman are septuagenarian Brooklynites, with the same greyish-white hair framing bald spots. David has made a commercial success of their shared characteristics, spinning Sanders’ 2016 Democratic…

Ivanka and Donald Trump Jr. Were Close to Being Charged With Felony Fraud

In the spring of 2012, Donald Trump’s two eldest children, Ivanka Trump and Donald Trump Jr., found themselves in a precarious legal position. For two years, prosecutors in the Manhattan District Attorney’s office had been building a criminal case against them for misleading prospective buyers of units in the Trump SoHo, a hotel and condo development that was failing to sell. Despite the best efforts of the siblings’ defense team, the case had not gone away. An indictment seemed like a real possibility. The evidence included emails from the Trumps making clear that they were aware they were using inflated figures about how well the condos were selling to lure buyers.

Noose Tightens on Russia: Donald Jr. to Testify as Evidence of Collusion Mounts

Today is a very big day for Donald Trump Jr. He is going to testify before investigators for the Senate Judiciary Committee about his fateful meeting in June of 2016 with a room full of Russians he thought were bearing dirt on Hillary Clinton. This will presumably be the first time Don Jr. has submitted himself to questioning by anyone more aggressive than his father’s pal Sean Hannity, although one can assume his lawyers have been drilling him for some time to ensure he doesn’t screw the pooch and say something incriminating.

Trump Is Now Personally Implicated in a Coverup - Although We Still Can't Be Sure What He's Hiding

We may have finally reached the point at which it’s no longer tenable to offer President Trump the benefit of the doubt about his motives for trying to obstruct the Russia investigation. He is in so far over his head with this job, and so lacking in both temperament and knowledge, that there was always the chance that he simply stumbled into this coverup without really understanding the stakes.
