After ignoring small farmers for decades, volatile food prices and record hunger have forced the World Bank to respond to the multiple crises of agriculture. Implementing Agriculture for Development, the Bank’s 2013-2015 Agriculture for Action Plan (AAP) proposes US$30 billion in agricultural investments for poverty alleviation, equity and environmental sustainability and assigns a role to peasant farmers in the global economy.
