Donald Trump's downward spiral since the Republican National Convention just keeps going, and the GOP nominee won't recover according to TPM in an August 8 article titled: "No Longer a Bounce." His latest vile suggestion that "Second Amendment people" could do something about a Hillary Clinton presidency and liberal Supreme Court appointees is unlikely to help that trend.

Many political observers think the trend is set.
"At the risk of stating the obvious, a bounce is something that goes up and then comes down, at least part of the way back down. But Clinton's trend line continues to rise," wrote Josh Marshall.
On Monday, 50 GOP National Security officials eviscerated the nominee in an open letter. And from his reluctance to endorse prominent members of his own party - to his tireless attempts to win over Berners - Trump is all over the electoral map. But these major faux pas really don't help:

1. The Khan Family
One of Trump's biggest mistakes was telling ABC's George Stephanopoulos he had "made a lot of sacrifices" in response to Khizr Khan's statement at the Democratic National Convention about his son killed in Iraq, and continually going after the family. Trump never apologized to the Gold Star Family, and the media controversy continued for a week.
2. Russia
Trump came up with a few really bizarre claims about Russia and Putin recently. In the same ABC interview, Trump said he "didn't know" if he had met Putin—and alluded to the fact that he didn't know that Putin had been in Ukraine for years. However, Trump defended the statements the next day, but asked the audience "What you want to go back?" when that's really the slogan of his entire campaign: "Make America Great AGAIN." Despite having no relationship with Putin, Trump called on Russia during a news conference in Doral, Florida, to help him retrieve Hillary Clinton's deleted emails, for a reward:
“Russia, if you’re listening, I hope you’re able to find the 30,000 emails that are missing,” Trump said, adding “I think you will probably be rewarded mightily by our press.”
Note that Trump seems to have a very differnet attitude towards the "dishonest media" when it is attacking his opponent.
3. Iran
Trump backtracked on his statements regarding a video he had described at campaign rallies of the recently reported $400M tranfer to Iran. He also tweeted Monday in regard to the death of an accused spy: "Many people are saying that the Iranians killed the scientist who helped the U.S. because of Hillary Clinton's hacked emails."

4. The NFL
Trump claimed in his ABC interview with Stephanopoulos that the NFL had written him a letter asking for dates of the presidential debates to be changed. However, Fox News soon ratted him out - Fox News! In fact, On the Record's Greta Van Susteren even used the ridiculous lie to cut Newt Gingrich off. "Speaking of lying," she said, in Hillary Clinton's defense. Oh how the tables have turned!
5. "Titties"
Trump appeared to have said "titties" instead of cities in his Economic Policy speech in Detroit Monday. This one wasn't actually his fault though, as uncovered by one video recording which managed to catch his actual pronunciation. But by the time that report came through, the damage was done.
6. The Second Amendment
Trump made a backhanded quip about Hillary Clinton's potential SCOTUS pick at a campaign rally in North Carolina Tuesday, which NBC News called a "veiled threat."
"Hillary wants to abolish, essentially abolish the Second Amendment," Trump said, which neither Hillary Clinton nor any democrat has said ever. But perpetuating that lie wasn't enough. "By the way, and if she gets to pick her judges, nothing you can do, folks," Trump continued. "Although the Second Amendment people, maybe there is, I don't know."
