Move Beyond Warfare

President Obama has the unique opportunity to recognize how deeply the world has changed in the past decade, and how we must move beyond warfare as a means to resolve disputes between nations. I hope he recognizes the increasing importance of international institutions and the increasing necessity of international law and governance. It is possible to outlaw war and replace it with lawful mechanisms with which to resolve conflict. Obama is smart enough to grasp these ideas and will need lots of support from progressives to help move the planet toward a more peaceful and just world.
