Mike Huckabee and Israel’s Apocalyptic Temple Movement Set the Stage for a Summer of Holy War

Hours before the sun rose Monday morning, the former governor of Arkansas, presidential candidate and proud father of President Donald Trump’s press secretary, Mike Huckabee, set out on a politically provocative journey. Joined by 5,000 messianic Israeli settlers, Huckabee led an incursion under the armed guard of the Israeli army into the occupied West Bank city of Nablus to perform religious rituals at Joseph’s Tomb. By Huckabee’s side was Bezalel Smotrich, the fanatically right-wing member of parliament who recently unveiled his proposal to slaughter Palestinians who refuse to accept inferior status under Israeli apartheid rule.

At Lavish New York Gala, the Jewish Right-Wing Rises to Defend Alt-Right Godfather Steve Bannon

The rise of Donald Trump has elevated white nationalism to the forefront of American politics, but neo-Nazi-oriented groups are not the only ones feeling empowered by his election. On Sunday night at the Grand Hyatt hotel in New York City, the Zionist Organization of America hosted its largest gala since its inaugural dinner in 1897. Scheduled to attend was Steve Bannon, the former Breitbart News head whom Trump named as his chief White House strategist.

Why Israelis are Calling the Soldier Caught Executing Palestinian on Video Their 'King'

The episode since Israeli medic-soldier and French citizen Elor Azarya was filmed summarily executing Abd Al-Fattah Al-Sharif has been a sobering reminder of the Israeli right-wing’s total and long-standing dominance over the Zionist left, manifesting into a display unseen since the last war on Gaza, when anti-war protesters were beaten in the streets.

Watch: Israelis Demand "A Bullet In The Head" For Palestinians and Leftists At Rally For Killer Soldier

On March 24, 2016, in the occupied West Bank city of Hebron, an Israeli military medic handed his helmet to another soldier, cocked his weapon and calmly fired a bullet into the head of a local Palestinian man, then accused of stabbing an Israeli soldier, as he lay wounded and immobile on the ground. A local Palestinian researcher with the Israeli human rights group B’Tselem filmed the execution, and the video immediately went viral.

Documentary Feature ‘Killing Gaza’ Needs Your Help

Over the past eighteen months, I have devoted much of my work at Mondoweiss to providing nuanced coverage of the Gaza Strip.

Over the past eighteen months, I have devoted much of my work at Mondoweiss to providing nuanced coverage of the Gaza Strip.

Through my words, photographs and videos, I aspired to have bring readers into the lives of the 1.8 million Palestinians ignored, maligned and dehumanized, and the political processes that perpetuate the stark reality they survive in.

In addition to publishing articles, I have documented on film the daily crises that Palestinians in Gaza suffer through and the resilience they show in the aftermath of the 2014 mega-assault that killed some 2,200 Palestinians including more than 550 children.

This effort has culminated in a documentary project that I, along with my co-producer Max Blumenthal, have titled Killing Gaza.

Undoubtedly a jolting choice of words, we decided on Killing Gaza because we aim to create an unflinching and uncompromising portrayal of the daily Israeli violence wrought upon Gaza and the complicity of Western governments. We see this as necessary to push back against the narrative that demonizes the population of mostly children as terrorists.

In order to complete this project, we recently launched an Indiegogo campaign. Our goal of $30,000 will allow us to cover our debt for equipment upgrades and months of fieldwork. It will also allow us to compensate our committed editor, a translator, the composer of our original soundtrack, and animator. In addition, we need to cover post-production costs like audio engineering and editorial streamlining.

Please watch the trailer, and consider donating to support the film, Killing Gaza.

After Destroying 100,000 Homes, Netanyahu Threatens Even More Destruction in Gaza

Less than 12 hours before the announcement of the ceasefire that would end Israel’s 51-day war on Gaza, and after the deal’s terms had been agreed upon, Israel decided to unleash its most ferocious display of firepower, with warplanes launching American-supplied bunker busters at Gaza’s landmark buildings, instantly collapsing two residential high-rise towers in Gaza and a shopping mall in Rafah.
