Ex-Navy SEAL who bragged about 'breaching the Capitol' now claims he's 'not a traitor' after FBI questions him

A retired Navy SEAL is facing trouble from the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) after posting a video to Facebook detailing his involvement in the U.S. Capitol breach.

According to ABC News, Adam Newbold, 45, of Lisbon, Ohio, took to Facebook on Jan. 6, to share details about the series of events that transpired that day. Although Newbold admitted that there was "destruction" at the Capitol, he made it clear that he was "proud" of what he had done.

"There was destruction, breaching the Capitol, our building, our house. And, um, to get in you had to destroy doors and windows to get in," Newbold said.

Newbold, who served in the U.S. Navy for 24 years, went on to boast about the civil unrest that erupted inside the U.S. Capitol as he claimed there would be stories about the deadly riots to pass down to future generations. "There are stories to tell from generations upon generations, um, that hopefully, uh ... that hopefully, it pans out to be a positive revolution," he boasts. "HOOYAH!"

Although lives were lost due to the senseless acts of violence that took place, Newbold claimed "he wanted to make lawmakers 'think twice about what they're doing' and to be left 'shaking in their shoes.'"

However, Newbold's stance has undergone a dramatic change due to the consequences he is now facing for his actions. During a 45-minute exclusive interview with ABC News, Newbold admitted that the Capitol breach "was all taken too far."

He went on to admit that he was enraged the day of the U.S Capitol riots but now accepts the outcome of the presidential election. Newbold also requested a "cry for clemency" amid the charges he is currently facing as he insisted that he is not a terrorist. "I would like to express to you just a cry for clemency, as you understand that my life now has been absolutely turned upside-down," Newbold told the publication. "I am not a terrorist. I am not a traitor."
