Sen. Rand Paul (R-Ky.) on Friday claims he and members of his family have faced death threats amid his ongoing conflict with National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases director, Dr. Anthony Fauci.

During an appearance on Fox News, the Republican lawmaker revealed he'd received a total of five threats just this week. According to Paul, the repercussions are a result of his line of questioning when he asked the nation's top infectious disease expert about the origin of COVID.

"This week, I've had five death threats just for being outspoken on it," Paul said during the primetime appearance. "I don't know what the world's coming to, you can't ask honest, difficult questions that in the end have proved out that Dr. Fauci was not being honest with us, but as a repercussion, my family had white powder sent to our house, and five death threats phoned in."

Paul's remarks come just one week after reports began circulating about the mysterious package that arrived at his doorstep. At the time, the Federal Bureau of Investigations (FBI) and U.S. Capitol Police announced an investigation into the package, which was filled with a white powdery substance.

According to The Hill, the law enforcement agencies also revealed the packages featured "an image of Paul in bandages with a gun to his head. The text accompanying the image stated: 'I'll finish what your neighbor started you motherf---er,' referencing when Paul's neighbor assaulted him."

Shortly after the package was made public, Paul took to Twitter with accusatory remarks toward 80s pop singer Richard Marx. However, Paul had no evidence to back his allegations about the possibility of Marx being responsible for the package.
