This GOP lawmaker is standing in the way of disaster aid — and even other Republicans are fuming about it
Rep. Thomas Massie (R-Ky.) appears to have deleted his controversial tweet about the COVID-19 vaccine, but as we all know, the internet is forever.
Screenshots circulating on Twitter show an Wednesday, August 25 post shared by Massie that featured an image of a fist with an inmate number on the person's wrist.
The image included a caption that read, "If you have to carry a card on you to gain access to a restaurant, venue, or an event in your own country, that's no longer a free country."
Twitter users are criticizing the lawmaker for the disturbing comparison. One Twitter user wrote, "Does . . . does he . . . does he think that the prisoners at Auschwitz . . . were admitted to restaurants when they flashed their forced labor number tattoos?"
Some criticized Massie for being on the wrong side of history. "[Rep. Thomas Massie] We will remember your heinous comparison between deathcamps and ID cards," Another Twitter user tweeted, adding, "and a vaccine card is proof of vaccination like a Driver's License is proof of age. But you wanted to scare people instead?"
