Watch: CNN host uses GOP lawmaker’s own words to grill him on double standard for Trump and Clinton

Rep. Mike Turner (R-Ohio) he was confronted during a recent interview about having "two standards" for former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton and former President Donald Trump.
On Tuesday, August 9, the Republican lawmaker appeared on CNN with host Pamela Brown after sending a letter to Federal Bureau of Investigations (FBI) Director Christopher Wray demanding answers for the “unprecedented” search at Trump’s Mar-a-Lago estate on Monday.
According to the New York Times, the search "appears to be focused on Mr. Trump’s handling of materials that he took from the White House residence at the end of his presidency," and is so far unrelated to the DOJ's investigation of the events of January 6, 2020.

The search warrant on the former president's estate quickly dominated headlines.
However, during the interview, Turner argued that the search was politically-driven as he insisted that government officials are handling the Trump probe differently in comparison to their handling of Clinton's private email server investigation.
“We have two standards where we have Hillary Clinton with her own computer system and classified information on it being given a subpoena and the ability to go through that server to see whether or not it’s personal material or official material,” Turner said.
“And this president ― president, not a secretary of state ― being raided. Clearly, two different standards, and we want to know why.”
However, Brown pushed back with a reference to a statement Turner made back in 2016 where he demanded Clinton be “held accountable for her extremely careless actions.”
“Why was it concerning for you with Hillary Clinton and not now with Donald Trump?” Brown asked.
Per the news outlet, Turner argued that "Clinton’s material followed her as she was working as secretary of state while the material allegedly in Trump’s possession may or may not be actually 'classified.'”
Before Turner had a chance to fire back, Brown refocused the interview on Turner's claim as CNN rolled out a clip of all the political adversaries Trump wanted the U.S Department of Justice to investigate.
Turner then attempted to pivot and blame the Obama-Biden administration for politicizing the Justice Department as he insisted that Trump’s possible 2024 run makes him a "absolute" rival for President Joe Biden.
Brown, in turn, asked Turner to elaborate on his "absolute" rival remark as it appeared to suggest that Biden's Justice Department is "trying to go after Trump” ahead of the 2024 presidential election. That's when Turner appeared to snap at Brown on air.
