'Hatred' of Democrats: Tucker Carlson attempts to explain his failed 2022 midterm election predictions

Fox News' Tucker Carlson recently provided an explanation for his failed prediction when he suggested a red wave would sweep the United States during the 2022 midterm elections.

Earlier this week, the conservative primetime host sat down for an interview with far-right influencer Charlie Kirk where he admitted that his election predictions were “miscalled completely.”

Carlson, like many far-right Republicans, assumed those candidates backed by former President Donald Trump had a substantial chance of unseating Democratic candidates and anti-Trump Republican candidates. However, the election results did not pan out the way many expected.

In fact, a substantial number of the candidates Trump endorsed ended up losing key elections in critical battleground states which suggests the former president's influence may be waning among Republican votes.

While Carlson admitted that he's still unsure of why Republicans fell short in the election, he did offer an explanation for his own prediction. According to Carlson, hatred may have blinded his judgment.

“I actually hate this neoliberal movement, this antihuman movement that’s sweeping the West,” Carlson said. “I really feel hatred.”

“That loathing clouded my judgment,” he continued. “I was like, ’I dislike these people so much. What they’re doing is so wrong. It is helping so few people and hurting so many. It’s so immoral on every level that I just want it to be repudiated.’”

The far-right Fox News host went a step further with more detail to support his explanation.

“I wanted that so much, not because I like the Republicans — I really dislike them more than I ever have — but I dislike the other side more,” he said.

Carlson concluded with remarks appearing to downplay his knowledge of American politics saying he had “no freaking idea what goes on in American politics.”
