The co-hosts of "The View" were both shocked and disgusted after President Donald Trump told the press that protesters shouldn't have the right to carry guns when in the streets.
Before he headed to Iowa on Tuesday, Trump announced, "you can't have guns. You can't walk in with guns. You just can't. Listen, you can't walk in with guns. You can't do that. It's just a very unfortunate incident."
Trump's former communications director, Alyssa Farah Griffin quipped, "Rest in peace, Second Amendment!"
"I can't imagine if a democraticpresident said you can't have agun. You can't bring a gun. We're not doing guns.People would be up in arms," she added.
Sara Haines agreed, "he's saying that outloud about the Second Amendment.I was shocked a lot of his top administration officials were loosely talking. But I'm getting used to them notfully grasping things like the Constitution."
Her demand, however, is that if the country is going to finally have a conversation about guns they at least mention the epidemic of mass shootings.
"If we have toendure conversations about gunsafter every school shooting andkids being shot, and how we needgood people with guns. Well, Alex Pretti was a good guy witha gun, and we see how that turnedout for him," Haines continued.
"But I think if one more persontalks about the gun and nothaving the right it's going toreally piss me off because therewas no movement after any schoolshooting. There are a lot of people likemyself that believe in the Second Amendment responsible gunownership."
She noted that there are such a huge range of regulations on guns from Idaho with the weakest and California with the strictest.
"I'd like to see everyone get on board with morereasonable responsible gun laws. Like if this is the time — if we're going to throw it allout the window on one Second Amendment right because itdoesn't suit the narrative let'shave a real conversation aboutresponsible gun ownershipbecause people seem open to itnow," said Haines.
