MAGA is 'dead' and Trump killed it: top right-wing influencer

One of the key influencers in the MAGA movement has declared it “dead” due to the “broken promises” of President Donald Trump. What’s more, he argues that the situation has killed off the potential for a new far-right movement as the “populist left” builds steam.

This is according to Nick Fuentes, a white supremacist and Christian nationalist who has been an influential MAGA figure throughout Trump’s political career, who posted on Monday, “MAGA is not only dead, it is sucking all the oxygen out of the room for any potential new movement to grow.” The reason for MAGA’s downfall is clear, says Fuentes, citing “Trump’s broken promises over immigration, Iran and Epstein,” arguing they “have completely deflated any enthusiasm on the right.”

“The populist left has all the energy now,” he added.

His assertions come following a wave of high-profile MAGA defections that have occurred over the past year. Longtime, once-avid Trump loyalists like Alex Jones, Marjorie Taylor Greene, Tucker Carlson and Candace Owens have all publicly broken with the president over his suspicious handling of the Epstein files, claims that he’s been too soft on immigration and his willingness to wage war overseas, which they say is a betrayal of the “America First” ethos.

At the same time, the wider Republican Party is in a panic over the looming midterms, as polls have made it clear that anger at Trump is dragging down the GOP’s electoral chances. Economic blowback from Trump’s decision to launch war with Iran has been particularly damaging. For years, Republicans have enjoyed a reputation as the stronger party on the economy and national security, but new polling shows they have lost their edge over the Democrats.

Because of this, polling indicates that Democrats have a major lead on generic House ballots, with even Fox News showing the Republicans down by 7 points. That gives Democrats the largest lead the network has ever seen by either party since it began polling in 1996, and conservatives are sounding the alarm that they are not only likely to lose their majority in the House, but possibly in the Senate.

And as Fuentes notes, MAGA’s decline has come in parallel with a boom of electoral wins for populist candidates on the left. The first major sign of this shift came last year with the election of New York Mayor Zoran Mamdani, and more recently, a spate of primary victories by Democratic Socialists like Claire Valdez and Darializa Avila-Chevalier in New York, Abdul El-Sayed in Michigan and others across the country.
