Trump lawyer reveals the three areas the FBI focused on during Mar-a-Lago search

An attorney for former President Donald Trump is speaking out with details about the areas Federal Bureau of Investigations (FBI) agents focused on during the search of Mar-a-Lago.

On Tuesday, August 9, Lindsey Halligan, a Florida-based attorney who was at Trump's estate while the search was underway, appeared for an interview with CBS News. She revealed the search focused on three main areas of the estate: a bedroom, an estate office, and a storage area.

Halligan said she was restricted from entering the complex during the search and was advised to stay between the ballroom and residence. According to The Hill, Halligen also said she was initially alerted about the search around 10 a.m. on Monday, August 8.

She noted that "30 to 40 FBI agents conducted the search for eight hours, some of whom were wearing suits but most in casual clothing. She said 10 to 15 vehicles went into the property."

While she admits that she did not witness agents taking any documents from the home, she does believe they may have retrieved some.

According to The New York Times, the FBI's search "appears to be focused on Mr. Trump’s handling of materials that he took from the White House residence at the end of his presidency, including many pages of classified documents."

Sharing her reaction to the search, Halligan admitted that she was "shocked" as she believed Trump had been cooperative with investigators. According to Halligan, the search was "an appalling display of abuse and power — complete overkill.”

Halligen's remarks come as other Republicans have spoken out to share their critical reactions to the search. Many have described the search as being politically motivated.
