Twitter users troll Cruz for exploding on his neighbors after his wife's Cancun text messages leak

Last week, Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Texas) found himself at the center of controversy after traveling to Cancun, Mexico to escape his state's deadly winter storm.

Now, according to The Daily Beast, the Texas senator is still in an uproar because he's reportedly been feeling the draft his Houston, Texas neighbors who appear to believe the dialogue that was highlighted in his wife Heidi's leaked text messages last week.

The publication highlighted details from Cruz's recent appearance on the "Ruthless" podcast where he discussed his contention with his neighbors. Based on his remarks, the Republican senator believes his neighbors should lighten up. He also appeared to blame his Democratic-leaning neighbors for the leak, itself, as he suggested that it is merely a sign of "how ridiculously politicized and nasty" politics can be.

Cruz reportedly offered a suggestion for his neighbors saying, "Here's a suggestion, just don't be a**holes. Treat each other as human beings, have some degree, some modicum of respect."

Fueled by Cruz's frustration, Twitter users have also wasted no time mocking the senator's reaction to the disastrous getaway. Many fired back to criticize the senator for his remarks as they raised questions about his remarks. One Twitter user wrote, "Wouldn't his neighbors have to be a**holes to be friends with Ted in the first place?"

Another person also alluded to former President Donald Trump's memorable jab at Cruz's wife tweeting, "If the neighbors had only called her ugly, he'd be falling all over himself to do their yard work. From the "loves to dish it out but can't take it" wing of the sedition caucus."

Cruz's podcast comes just days after his futile attempt at damage control. After abruptly returning from Mexico, Cruz uploaded a photo of himself loading a case of water into a vehicle. However, his attempt came shortly after Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-N.Y.) raised more than $4 million and traveled to the state of Texas to lend a helping hand, an effort that also was not missed by Twitter users.
