'It only goes downhill from here': GOPer Nancy Mace trolls Matt Gaetz over his sex trafficking investigation
09 February 2023
Rep. Nancy Mace (R-S.C.) did not mince words when she shared her opinion of the sex trafficking investigation of her colleague, Rep. Matt Gaetz (R-Fla.).
Mace's remarks arrived during the Washington Press Club's annual dinner on Wednesday, February 8. According to Mediaite, Mace ripped on Gaetz, who did not attend, and the investigation surrounding his involvement in the trafficking of a 17-year-old girl.
Although Gaetz was not charged following the release of a report about the U.S. Department of Justice's probe, that didn't stop Mace from trolling the Republican lawmaker.

During her speech, Mace attempted to liken the acceptable age of sexual consent to the consecutive number of ballots it took for House Speaker Kevin McCarthy (R-Calif.) to secure his position after far-right lawmakers like Gaetz repeatedly blocked his efforts.
"Did you watch McCarthy during the speaker’s vote? I know many of you were in halls of Congress during that vote. I haven’t seen someone assume that many positions to appease the crazy Republicans since Stormy Daniels. It only goes downhill from here, people," Mace said.
"I mean, come on! But let’s be honest," she added. "We all knew that Matt Gaetz would never let the vote get to 18."
In response to her remarks, the crowd erupted in laughter.

She added, "I hope that C-SPAN has a buzzer or a bleep because this shit is about to get real, ok? It only goes downhill from here. I do have a message from Matt this evening. He really, really wanted to be here tonight, but he couldn’t find a babysitter to be his date."
